Terms of Service
Last updated 13 October 2026 (what you post, and how we keep Zera safe). Zera Plus is priced by church size from 4 November 2026 for churches already on Plus, and straight away for new ones.
In plain words
1. Agreeing to these terms
These terms apply when you use Zera at zera.church (the “service”). By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you use Zera on behalf of a church, you confirm that you are authorised to act for that church, and these terms also bind the church.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to have a Zera account.
- Give accurate information and keep your password private. You are responsible for activity on your account.
- Tell us straight away at hello@zera.church if you think someone else has used your account.
3. Your church’s responsibilities
A church using Zera controls the information it records about its members, and agrees to:
- have a lawful reason, and any consent needed, to record and use members’ information, including a parent’s or guardian’s consent for children;
- only send SMS and messages to people who expect to hear from the church, and stop when someone asks;
- keep its records accurate and give access only to people who need it;
- follow Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) and other laws that apply to it.
4. Acceptable use
You must not use Zera to:
- send spam, scams, or messages that harass, threaten or deceive;
- break the law, or infringe other people’s rights or privacy;
- try to access another church’s data, disrupt the service, or get around its security or limits;
- resell the service or create fake churches or accounts.
5. Free service, Zera Plus, SMS wallet and credit
- Managing your church on Zera is free, with no limit on members. Zera Plus (below) is an optional paid add-on.
- SMS is paid for from a prepaid church wallet. The current price is GH₵ 0.05 per text of up to 160 characters on the free plan, and GH₵ 0.04 on Zera Plus; longer messages count as more than one text. Zera shows the cost before anything is sent, and the same price applies to text reminders for events.
- A text that uses characters outside the basic SMS alphabet (emoji, some accented or Twi letters, curly quotes) holds 70 characters per text instead of 160.
- Texts that fail to send are refunded to the wallet automatically.
- A church on Zera Plus that is listed on Discover may promote its own public events, teachings or approved testimonies there, labelled “Promoted”, for GH₵ 50 a week (1, 2 or 4 weeks) from the wallet. Promoted posts must follow these terms and Zera’s guidelines; Zera may remove one, and refunds the unused whole days when a promotion ends early.
- Zera Plus includes 200 viewer-minutes a month of services broadcast on Zera. Minutes beyond them are charged from the wallet at GH₵ 4 per 100 minutes. A live service is never cut off, and minutes the wallet can’t yet pay stay owed until it is topped up. Until then, a new service can’t go live on Zera.
- Wallet credit is for use on Zera. It has no cash value and is not refundable, except where the law requires otherwise.
- Promotional credit (such as the welcome credit for new churches) is a gift that we may change or end at any time; it cannot be exchanged for cash.
- We may change prices. We will give at least 30 days’ notice of any increase, and it will not affect credit already in your wallet.
Zera Plus
- Zera Plus is optional. Its price depends on the church’s size: GH₵ 100 a month for Plus Small (up to 100 members), GH₵ 200 for Plus Medium (101–300 members), GH₵ 400 for Plus Large (301–1,000 members), GH₵ 700 for Plus Extra Large (over 1,000 members), plus GH₵ 100 a month for each branch after the first. Active members are every membership on the church’s list, apart from those that left or were marked inactive or graduated more than 30 days before the payment. A year costs ten months’ price. It is paid online by Mobile Money or card through Paystack, or by Mobile Money through the Zera team.
- The price is worked out from the church’s size when it pays. Time already paid for keeps the price it was paid at; a new size’s price applies from the next payment.
- Churches that had Zera Plus before 4 October 2026, paid or on a trial, pay the earlier price of GH₵ 200 a month or GH₵ 2,000 a year for Plus time that starts before 4 November 2026.
- A church trying Plus for the first time can ask for one free 60-day trial.
- There is no contract. If Plus stops, the Plus features switch off, everything free keeps working, and nothing is deleted.
- We will give at least 30 days’ notice of any change to the price of Plus.
6. What you post, and how we keep Zera safe
You’re responsible for what you post on Zera. To keep people safe, Zera’s team may review anything posted on Zera, members-only and ministry posts included. Every look at members-only content is logged, and a church’s owner can see how many of its items we reviewed each month.
If something breaks these terms, we may hide it, remove it or delete it for good, pause the person who posted it from posting anywhere on Zera (for 7 days, 30 days or until we lift it), or suspend their account. We always say why: the writer is told in their Mail, with a way to ask us to look again, and the church’s owner is told when it’s their church’s content. Our Privacy Policy explains what we record when we look.
7. Your content and data
Your church owns the records and content it puts into Zera, and can export its member list at any time. You give Zera permission to store, process and display that content only as needed to provide the service to you. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.
8. Availability and changes
We work hard to keep Zera available and your data safe, but the service is provided “as is” and we cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may improve, change or remove features over time; where a change significantly affects you, we will tell you in advance.
9. Suspension and closing an account
You can stop using Zera at any time and ask us to close your account or your church’s workspace. We may suspend or close an account or church that breaks these terms, puts other people at risk, or misuses messaging. Where possible we will warn you first and explain why.
10. Limits of our liability
As far as the law allows, Zera is not liable for indirect or consequential losses (such as lost income or data a church did not keep elsewhere), and our total liability to a church is limited to the amount it paid Zera in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under the laws of Ghana.
11. Credits
The reaction emoji on the feed, in live services and in Chats are Google’s Noto emoji, kept on Zera’s own servers. The still pictures come from Noto Color Emoji, under the Apache License 2.0. The moving ones come from Animated Noto Emoji, under CC BY 4.0. We made them smaller, and the moving ones show every other frame.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana, and the courts of Ghana have jurisdiction.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is important, we will update the date above and tell account holders before it takes effect. Continuing to use Zera after that means you accept the updated terms.
