Zera means seed.
A seed is small. It’s planted, it’s tended, and it grows into something that feeds many. That’s how we think about the church, and about the tools that serve it.
A seed, planted in every church
Zera (זֶרַע) is the Hebrew word for seed, and for offspring, the children and generations that come after. It is the word in Genesis 3:15, the first promise of the seed:
“And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”Genesis 3:15 (KJV)
That’s why the name fits. Zera is planted in every church that uses it, and what grows is people: members known by name, visitors welcomed home, families and generations kept together.

The leaf on our “z” is the seed, sprouting.
Notebooks and memory aren’t enough
Too many churches still run on notebooks and memory: visitors slip away unnoticed, prayer requests get lost, the treasurer carries the books home, and members feel little connection to their church between Sundays.
Zera is made in Accra, Ghana, to change that. It’s one home where the church office runs smoothly, the money is accounted for with integrity, and every member belongs.
“Know well the condition of your flocks, and give attention to your herds.”Proverbs 27:23
How Zera pays its way
- The church wallet, prepaid like airtime: texts to members who aren’t on the app yet, and extras a church chooses, like promoting an event on Discover.
- Zera Plus, for churches that want church online, Chats, the Planner and more.
- Never your data. No selling, no renting, no ad networks, no tracking. Ever.
Four things we won’t compromise on
Member-first
Every member gets an app of their own. Their account belongs to them, not to one church. It goes with them when they move, with their faith record and giving history.
Free at the core
Running your church shouldn’t depend on a budget line. We earn from Zera Plus and the church wallet, and both are optional. We never earn from your data.
Built for here
Cedis, Mobile Money, SMS for members without smartphones, Ghana’s public holidays on the staff calendar, and a phone-first design for pastors on the move.
Your records stay yours
Each church’s data is kept apart at the database level. It is never sold, and you can export it whenever you want.
What we believe about church software
The church’s home online, not a social network
Everything on Zera is anchored to a real church, service or event. We share to WhatsApp rather than try to replace it.
We never pull people from their church
A member’s own church always comes first in their app. Zera never suggests switching churches, and leaving never needs anyone’s permission.
Trust is earned, and shown honestly
Zera confirms churches are real and verifies their papers. A small village church can still run everything privately. Checks unlock being seen, never day-to-day use.
Nothing we don’t do yet is sold as done
Our pages show only what is switched on today. If it isn’t working yet, we don’t sell it.
